Gmail is already the most popular mail program for Image Pro Design clients and getting more and more everyday, so we wanted to give a quick and easy guide for how to setup your IPD hosted email accounts in Gmail so that all of our clients can take advantage of Gmail’s feature-rich and flexible admin.
1.) Setup Free Gmail Account:
First, you need to setup a Gmail account. Click on the link below and setup your free Gmail account:
https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=mail
2.) Get to the Email Account Setup Area:
After you have setup and logged in to your new Gmail account, at the top right of the page click on Settings, then click the Accounts and Import tab.
3.) Setup Gmail to Check Your New Email:
First you want to look down to the third area of the page where it says “Check mail using POP3” this is where you want to start. Start by clicking Add POP3 email account, then a window will pop-up asking you to enter your email address, enter your email address then click next, then add your username, which will be your email address, then your email’s password, and the POP Server will be mail.yourwebsite.com, then click Add Account.
4.) Setup Gmail to Send from Your New Email:
After you click Add Account in the last step, the popped-up window should tell you that your account has been added, and is going to ask you if you would also like to be able to send mail as “youremail@yourwebsite.com“, make sure that the “Yes” radio button is checked then hit Next Step. Now it is going to ask you to put your Name…this what the Name that people will see when you send them an email, you can put whatever you like, then hit Next Step. Next Gmail is going to ask you if you want to send mail through Gmail’s SMTP servers, or your website’s SMTP servers, choose “Send through Gmail” this then hit Next Step, then hit Send Verification, and a verification will be sent to your inbox. Note: It may take a minute to receive your verification because it has to go through our servers first.
After you have verified the email then you are done…you can now begin to use your IPD hosted email address using Gmail as your email client program.
